Welcome to Hermosa Beach

Idyllic California coastal life in South Bay beach town.

Hermosa Beach is a small SoCal beach town that, together with neighboring Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach, forms an area locals call the South Bay. Hermosa Beach is the smallest and most laid-back of these three idyllic beachfront communities. Spanning just fifteen blocks, this intimate coastal gem is a hot spot for surfing, sunbathing, and beach volleyball.

The golden sands of Hermosa Beach are lined with stunning recently built properties. These homes exhibit exceptional attention to detail inside and out, with masterful modern architecture and beautifully designed interiors. Hermosa Beach’s lavish contemporary beachfront properties are typically valued in excess of ten million dollars. Property values are generally lower further back from the beachfront, though no home here is more than a few minutes’ walk from the beach. The real estate mix includes attractive modern and mid-century modern single-family homes and stylish condominiums.

The historic 1913 Hermosa Beach Pier extends over 1,000 feet from the sandy beach to the Pacific Ocean. It’s a popular spot for fishing or enjoying a canopy-shaded picnic and will be recognizable to many from the hit movie La La Land. Shops and restaurants are located at the pedestrianized Pier Plaza at the pier’s entrances and along Pier Avenue. Grab a coffee and sit outside to people watch at Java Man or Gum Tree, dine on homestyle Mexican cuisine and Baja fish at Palmilla Cocina y Tequila, or delectable fresh seafood at Playa Hermosa Fish & Oyster Co. Tower 12. serves drinks and upscale bar snacks, and there are plenty of shopping options offered by a variety of beach-focused retailers. The streets close to Pier Avenue have more great choices for dining and drinks, such as gourmet gastropubs Abigaile on Manhattan Avenue and Crafty Minds Brews + Bites on Hermosa Avenue.

The Comedy & Magic Club on Hermosa Avenue features performances from talented comedians throughout the week, plus regular Sunday night sets from legendary “The Tonight Show” host Jay Leno. On Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend, Fiesta Hermosa brings hundreds of artists to town, along with food vendors, a Charity Beer & Wine Garden, and a variety of kid-friendly activities.
